Christian’s journey takes him from leaving high school with only three O-Level passes to becoming a police officer at eighteen, navigating sexuality and discrimination, seeking asylum in the United States, surviving professional and personal setbacks, discovering his calling as an educator, and ultimately earning a Ph.D.
Spanning Jamaica, the United States, and journeys across six continents, this is not a story about a perfect path. It is about refusing to let where you begin determine where you end.
Why I Wrote This Book
For years, I wanted to tell this story—not because my journey has been perfect, but because it has been anything but.
The Boy from Brandon Hill is a reflection on where I started, the places life has taken me, the setbacks that reshaped me, and the faith and persistence that kept me moving forward. I wrote it for anyone who has ever questioned whether their beginning determines their destination.
Most of all, I wrote it to honor the boy from Brandon Hill, Clarendon, who refused to quit.
